I spent a lot of time trying to choose a new purse/bag, and I bought this one as a compromise - a good enough for now purse (I've come to the conclusion that exactly what I want doesn't exist, and I may have to make my own). But now that I have received it, I find it fits my needs even better than I expected. I may still eventually make my "perfect" one, but I won't feel rushed into doing so, because this bag covers almost everything I wanted -- can hold my iPad and Kindle at the same time, in addition to items for my toddler and all my usual purse items. So 5 stars to start. If I have trouble with its durability as time goes on, I will come back and edit my review to reflect that. Anyway, I was hesitant to buy it, because I had several questions and wouldn't sure it would be what I needed/wanted. But after I accidentally left an opened pouch of my toddler's applesauce in my old purse, and it fermented and exploded, I decided a new purse and trashing of the old one (which was in terrible shape anyway) was something that was needed right now, no more waiting. But in an attempt to help other future buyers, I will provide what info I can:I bought the brown purse, and it's of a nice canvas material, similar to what is used for many backpacks. It has a large center compartment, a front pocket, a back pocket, a small pocket on one end, and a water bottle holder on the other.-One end has a compartment with a small strap that shuts with Velcro. I imagine it's intended for a cell phone, but my iPhone 6 doesn't fit all the way in -- it will go in the pocket, but it's too tall, and the strap wont fit down to secure over it. My old iPhone 4, though, will fit in securely in its lifeproof style case.-The other end has a water bottle holder. I debated whether it was worth getting a style with the water bottle holder, especially reading answered questions that said it was too small to hold a reusable water bottle. But my 27 oz klean kanteen does fit in it. It doesn't easily slip in - that is, I can't just slip it in without thought/without paying attention to what I'm doing - but it does fit in snuggly. Also, the water bottle holder is very easily removable when you don't want to use it. There is also a small pocket on this end, tucked under the straps that you attach the water bottle to.-The center compartment is padded in both front and back, and has no smaller pockets within it. It is big enough for me to fit my iPad and Kindle (both in large cases with handles, though the handle on at least the iPad case needs to be folded - but then sits nicely in the bottom of the purse. With more typical cases, the fit should be no problem whatsoever), plus a couple diapers, wipes, a small toy or two, and a change of clothing for my toddler. Or some other combination that would use the similar amount of space, obviously.-The front compartment has several pockets within it, one that is a good size for my iPhone, one slightly larger, then two slightly smaller, two that could be for pens or lipstick or other similar shaped/sized items, one that is a good size for credit cards, and one zippered mesh pocket. It also has a zippered pocket on the inside of the front flap. Additionally there is a place to attach keys.-The back compartment has 8 credit card (by width) sized pockets, though the back ones get deeper than the front ones. incidentally, I couldn't fit business cards in these pockets unless I turned them on end -- I guess business cards are slightly wider than credit cards, and they are sized just right for credit cards. There are also two pen pockets and a zippered pocket.I hope the information I have provided helps someone in making a decision! I'm very happy with the purchase, and relieved to find a bag that will do everything I want it to, plus isn't too big and bulky like a standard messenger bag or diaper bag.
